Temples in Cambodia

Most temples in Cambodia fall into mainly Hindu and Buhdist categories. The Buddhist temples in Cambodia are mostly pagodas. Pagodas are built in any province, district of Cambodia. The Hindu temples are mostly built in some of provinces in Cambodia.

Pagoda is called "Wat" in Cambodia and play important roles in the conservation of biodiversity in the forest and lowland ecosystems. The loss of the vast forest areas has grave implications on the ecosystem and daily lives of the rural people in Cambodia. The loss of the forests has led to loss of timber, fuel, food, medicine and livelihood as well as to soil erosion in the lowlands where rice is grown. This, in turn, had led to the decline in rice production and thus, to grain shortage.
